American Legion Post 116
American Legion Website & Directory
American Legion Post 116 in Fuquay-Varina needed more than a basic WordPress template. The post’s commander asked us to build a new website for the post and its Legion family.
Excel on the Web worked with Dave from Nice Guy Dave Design to put together the new WordPress website. The finished site brings post information, clubs, youth programs, events, and membership options into one place.
A Custom Member-Business Directory
Post 116 also wanted a directory for businesses connected to the post. Excel on the Web developed a custom WordPress plugin with searchable listings, category filters, and business contact options.
Visitors can explore the Legion Family Business Directory to find member-owned and affiliated businesses. We released the Member Business Plugin on GitHub as open source so other organizations can use it as a starting point for their own directories.
First Place — Post Website Award
In June 2026, the American Legion Department of North Carolina presented Post 116 with First Place in the Post Website Award.
The project combines a collaborative website redesign with custom programming for a specific community need. Visit the finished website and directory to see the work.
